Adam West (Batman!) over computerspelletjes

Citaat uit een column die Adam West (de acteur die in de jaren zestig Batman speelde) in 1983 schreef voor het tijdschrift Videogaming and Computergaming Illustrated. Ik vind het knap dat een man die toen al aangaf dat hij zelf nooit computerspelletjes speelt toch behoorlijk accuraat de toekomst wist te voorspellen. In het tijdperk van Pacman en Elevator Action voorzag Adam West al dat gamers in de toekomst in de huid van Batman zouden kruipen om avonturen te beleven die ze in het echt onmogelijk mee kunnen maken. “I, personally, would rather play that part than play the game, but for all the people who don’t have that option, videogames are a great way to experience the thrill and challenge of being such an extraordinary figure.” Inmiddels bestaan er al meer Batman-spellen dan Adam West voor mogelijk zou houden (maar helaas nog steeds geeneen die is gebaseerd op de televisieserie). Nu 1Up zijn column heeft opgegraven kan iemand Adam West misschien ook eens opzoeken om de nieuwste Batman-spellen aan hem te laten zien? Ik ben benieuwd of Arkham Asylum al bijna de ervaring is die hij zich in 1983 voorstelde.
